With the new, 24-track album "Gaffe-Prone Prolls," MR founder Tom Smith explores the nascence and probabilistic nebulousness of the sundered trio's posthumous studio album, "Merkwürdig Riechnerv ist der Tod."

"Gaffe"'s initial octet explores the spaces between events in the album's final mix. The second group of eight probes Smith's rigorous backing tracks, freighting them with new narratives that find them inexorably drifting from their orbits. A concluding octet are derived from pause-button edits of the final album mixes, each of which is retro-fitted with its own probabilistic sonics.

The resultant work is unsparingly lean and subversive, questioning both its source and the cauldron in which it was conceived.
